Opinion: Australia’s education system needs lesson in independence

education system

According to the Productivity Commission report of National Education Evidence Base, says that spending more funds on education is not the only way to raising the education standards and enhance results quality. The report states that: Anyhow there are increases in expenditure in the education sector over some past years. When the assessment is measured in Australia schools find small improvement also in other areas the standards have dropped.

So the first thing is to find the reason behind the failure rather than just increase investment in the education sector but standards still not improve.

Now there is a question arise that what the main causes of this.

The main reason is that there is a stronger education system in China, Singapore, Japan and Finland that has based on academically, their curriculum cover all the basic skills, knowledge and main concepts. But it is not familiar in the Australia because Australia is implemented Outcomes-Based Education from the 1990s. Their curriculum for primary school low standard, overloaded and artificial.

Curriculums, despite concentrating on academically based subjects, they force teachers to teach with extracts like intercultural thoughtful and creative thinking.

Secondly, the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development’s (OECD) conducted a research in which it describes the leading approach to learning and teaching in Australia as acceptance “artistic movement”.

The Systems in China, Finland, and Japan not ever comprised artistic movement and the concern on what is known as “clear teaching” and “direct teaching”.

The teaching method is become formal, where teachers able to manage the classroom effectively, lesson and properly planned and a disciplined classroom. Strong economic countries take more importance on memorization and note learning skills.

Beside from NAPLAN a unique learning and proficiency test is conducted in the years 2003, 5, 7 and 9. But in the Australia, an effective academic exam was conducted in the year 2012 in which student first-time face competition and high risk.

Study found that how children best acquire accomplishes that basic things like memorizing times tables poems and rhymes must become instinctive before intellectual learning can take place

Thanks to artistic movement and liberal fashions like influential assessment, but the focus is on being positive and indorsing self-confidence, students hardly, if ever, are told they have failed until their final year of school.

The state systems long ago eliminated technical schools and ready all students to attend secondary schools along with a curriculum that one-size-fits-all, education systems in many developing countries are more varied.

Such as in Finland after middle school students need to select between schools that are the academic concern which offer training and vocational education. In Singapore, students need to select from four courses after the complementation of primary school that includes express, normal, normal (technical) and normal (academic).

This approach is more effective rather than to force all students to take same courses.

Another cause of Australia education system failure is that it is extremely consolidated and administrative where schools, government schools in precise, lack of self-sufficiency and elasticity to revolutionize.

Well, schools must be responsible but the reality is over-directive and stubborn management also executes expensive and time-consuming compliance costs.

Australian teens are falling behind.

According to the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) conducted a survey to assess the capability of reading, mathematical question and scientific literacy in 15 years old Australian students have been recorded decline since 2000 but as compare to the other countries it showed improvement.

It is also found that average Australian students face problem while doing math questions and unable to implement science concept as compared to the 12 years old Korean students.

An international survey is conducted in years 2004 and 2008 found that average Australian student performance is less than the USA and England.

Declining participation in science and maths

As we all know that all the successful occupation required brief knowledge of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). Currently and future there will be a great importance of STEM in the industry sector. As there is a huge decline of these subjects in Australia education.

According to the statistics of 2012 and 2013, only one out of ten students studied advanced math’s and there has been a lack of motivation in girls studying science and math’s subjects. There is only 6.6% of girls who take advanced maths in 2013.

You all are shocked to hear that Australia is one of the developing nation that does not declare math as a compulsory subject for the students who graduate from high school.

A report from Productivity Commission found that nearly one-quarter of Australian students are just able to basic maths like counting.

We all just see the one side of the situation. This is not the situation to blame and blame but what we have to do is to minimize the cause by taking effective steps like….

You can’t have quality education without quality teachers

If you want to build strong leaders there you need a quality online education like Assignment Writing Service. Without highly qualified teachers how you educated to your students who become a doctor, engineer, pilot etc. in the future.

Early learning participation is low in Australia

Australia currently tries to invest in early childhood education. There is only 18% of 3 years students are admitted to early childhood education. Due to which Australia is rank 34 out of 36 in OECD.

Australia ranked 22 out of 37 on total investment on education sector according to the Gross Domestic Product.

A piece of advice to increase the standards of education in Australia.

  • Hiring a qualified teachers that are specialized in their particular subjects
  • Do not overload the class strength.
  • Design a high standard technology infrastructure that are full equip.
  • Prepared a talent program to motivate the students
  • Individual counselling and learning program for students support.
  • Design a curriculum that enhances student’s skills and abilities.
